Being embarrassed is a very uncomfortable position to be in especially when you consider yourself a perfectionist. While others laugh, you try to play it off however, no one will ever be as hard on you as you are on yourself. On my journey I have had so many embarrassing moments that I became immune to being embarrassed. The majority of those moments stemmed from lack of knowledge and understanding. I was never afraid to be wrong or ask questions which led me to holding myself accountable. We must stop hiding our ignorance!
When you grow up at the bottom, being average is what's expected. However when you seek better in society it's so much to learn, so many places to travel and so many different countries and cultures to experience. The most embarrassing moments came about when dealing with 5 things:
Question: How did I deal with each individual flaw? I educated myself in various ways.
To learn more about my politics and history I got involved with the NAACP and surrounded myself with elders who told stories and poured wisdom into me. For geography I started traveling, learning languages and surrounding myself with family members who wanted to learn as well and we grew together. For Accounting I read books and started a business which forced me to have better business practices. For law I became friends with lawyers who could give me insight on various things so that I could become a better person.
Even today I have a lot more to learn so I take life, one day at a time.
If you are embarrassed about any situation remember that it's ok! Learn what you need to learn and try to prevent the same thing from happening again.
I wish you much success!
